PROJECT FOR ORTHOPEDIC AND PROSTHETIC SUPPORT APPLIANCES


  Orthotics and prosthetics is the evaluation, fabrication, and custom fitting of artificial limbs and type of adaptive orthotics: ankle-foot orthosis

OBJECTIVES:

[a] Services

Services will be offered to those in need of such services.  Possible beneficiaries are all children and adults with conditions such as traumatic injuries to limbs and congenital abnormalities.

 

[b] Skills development and job opportunities

Training and skills development to selected individuals with handicapping conditions or young people with an interest and commitment in this regard.

ABOUT THE SITE

 The project for orthopedic shoes and prosthetic appliances is located on the second floor, Haitung Rehabilitation Center,  3223 Tung Fu Zong Lu, Haizhu District.



Equipmentand facilities



The support of the project was demonstrated recently, when graduate students from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and from universities in Pennsylvania and New York in the USA came for a hands-on experience in June of 2014. Over a 5-day period the students were able to prepare and fit devices for over 30 children, as well as for several adults.
